Teotihuacán, Mexico

Palenque, Mexico

The ancient city has a planned urban layout with residential areas, sanctuaries, palaces and the largest funerary pyramid in the classical period. The city was abandoned in pre-Hispanic times and the site was protected by the dense rainforest vegetation.
