Teotihuacán, Mexico
Teotihuacan is a vast Mexican archaeological complex northeast of Mexico City. Running down the middle of the site, which was once a flourishing pre-Columbian city, is the Avenue of the Dead. It links the Temple of Quetzalcoatl, the Pyramid of the Moon and the Pyramid of the Sun, the latter two with panoramic views from their summits.

Palenque, Mexico
Slideshow walkthrough the archaeological site at Palenque containing the ruins of a Mayan ancient city dating from ca. 226 BC to ca. 799 AD. The ancient city has a planned urban layout with residential areas, sanctuaries, palaces and the largest funerary pyramid in the classical period. The city was abandoned in pre-Hispanic times and the site was protected by the dense rainforest vegetation.
